Trinity Greenlawn girls - Departing Coach Henry Scroope
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- (Updated 5/28) Last year's squad was just 5-16. Just a bit of improvement over a 3-win campaign the year before. The skinny from a good Varsity Clubber points to a roster that graduates just two seniors leaving, and they combined for just about 4PPG. Scoring was an issue each of the last two seasons, and that will continue to be a challenge as no rostered player went for more than a bucket or so. Ball handling is the other. Report states turnovers were a nightmare. Many were self imposed, but Trinity really suffered against presses and traps. One 5-10 underclass roleplayer accounts for all the height in the program. No word yet on MS team. Varsity Club member anticipates internal interest on part of current assistant, but unconfirmed. Teacher openings anticipated, but no specific areas yet.

Frankfort boys - Departing Coach Rick Scholl
FRANKFORT, Ind. -- (Updated 4/12)
Frankfort continues the turnstyle as they will be hiring their fourth coach in as many years. Coach Scholl’s Hotdogs were 10-15 during his only season there last year. Four seniors graduate and all four were starters and heavy contributors. Varsity Clubber reports the only 6-0 sr-2-b PG Alex Farley (16PPG) is the only holdover of consequence. Three other underclassmen saw varsity time on a regular basis, but were most definitely in the backseat. A typical JV should help fill out roster. Current conference - Sagamore Athletic Conference (2024 – 25) (Crawfordsville, Danville, Lebanon, North Montgomery, Southmont, Tri West, Western Boone.) However, beginning with the 25-26 school year, Frankfort will be joining the Monon Athletic Conference (Cascade, Crawfordsville, Greencastle, North Montgomery, North Putnam, Southmont, Western Boone.) Varsity Club member reports to emphasize this info - Although Frankfort has decent enrollment numbers, so many of the student population do not play basketball that their classification in terms of other schools is critically distorted. 3A on paper, but more like a 2A athletically when it comes to participation. More expected but at present the only teaching openings are MS Sped, MS Science, MS Media, Eled, and HS Auto. (Updated 5/6) Good Varsity Club member reports Derek Davis is in the mix, formerly of Clinton Central. (Updated 5/27) Good Varsity Club member reports interviewed 3 on Thursday. Harrison Girls Coach was reportedly one of the three McColley

Will they Ever?

With numbers in athletics dropping in several sports in several classes in both genders.

I know schools that used to have C, frosh, JV, Varsity that now barely have Varsity/JV. As I am umpiring baseball/softball, schools have 1-2 subs and no Jv teams. I heard a few schools had to cancel their seasons bc 1-2 quit, got hurt, or had grade issues. That means they start with oess than 12 in their program. And maybe this is not as big an issue as I have seen.

Will Indiana ever consider letting 8th graders play up, like they do in other states specifically Kentucky. I am not sure who else allows that. But each year there are rule changes, classification adjustments, many favoring the bigger schools, yet the smaller schools are having trouble fielding a varsity team in many situations and nothing is really even being discussed on kids playing as 8th graders.
