Beech Grove boys - Departing Coach Joe Rihm
BEECH GROVE, Ind. -- (Updated 3/15) This from Indy Star’s Kyle Neddenriep: Joe Rihm steps down as Beech Grove basketball coach. Will stay on as assistant athletic director. Rihm was 22-26 in two seasons. This was a rebuilding year for the Hornets with a young team that finished 5-19. Varsity Club member indicates only one senior graduates and an unusual grouping of nine srs-2-b on paper ready for incoming coach. The lone senior leader will be missed, but it was primarily scoring by committee already. His 10PPG can likely be made-up for. However, it is noted that no other Hornets averaged double figures last go round. Not a ton of height as a couple of 6-3’s is about it in the post. Still, Varsity Club member reports that the Hornets are athletic and can cause problems for the opposition. Also a report that some parents have caused problems for the home team as well, but such could be said of most high school teams in our great state. TOpping last year's win total very achievable given another year with this group. JV reported as average and 8th grade pretty solid. Reports all speak highly of admin and working atmosphere. HS PE and Upper Eled SS is it for now in terms of teaching gigs. Internal interest expected. Stipend: $8100.
