I almost saw this happen the other night in a girls game.
Lets say a girl from Smithville has one free throw left to shoot. Before she shoots a girl from Jonesboro steps into the lane early. Now the girl from Smithville, if she misses, gets another chance due to the lane violation.
But, what would happen if the girl from Smithville, seeing the girl from Jonesboro step into the lane, doesn't shoot the free throw, puts the ball on her hip, turns to look at the referee, and inadvertently steps across the free throw line for a violation.
Whats the ruling? This came oh so close to happening the other night.
