Memorial girls - Departing Coach Lee Auker
EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- (Updated 4/5) Coach Auker has stepped down after five seasons and 100+ wins. Last year’s 20-6 squad had their season ended by the Tigers’ kryptonite (Gibson Southern) in Sectional. As a matter of fact, Memorial has had three 20-win seasons in a row come to an end courtesy of the GS Titans. Good Pocket City Varsity Clubber reports Tigers on paper to return two starters in soph-2-b Rylee Canaan (11PPG, 5RPG) and sr-2-b Myla Browning (9PPG, 3RPG, 4APG.) A number of other underclassmen logged some varsity time last season as well. Evansville has a bit of a unique setup in that Catholic schools, Mater Dei and Memorial, split the city in half and generally respect those guidelines in terms of where parochial students enroll. Internal interest unlikely. No word on JV record yet, but report states that feeder teams pretty solid. HS Math, HS Spanish, and HS Science.
