Herron girls - Departing Coach Shane Evans
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – (Updated 2/19) Can now confirm that Coach Evans has resigned at Herron after three seasons (38-31) there. Last year the Achaeans finished 16-8 before getting hammered in Sectional by Shortridge, 60-39. Good Varsity Club member reports AD is solid to work with. However, the real issue is that while Herron is competitive within the Capital City Conference (Englewood, Attucks, Tindley, Tech, Indy Wash, and Christel House,) outside of that and see 3A Sectional opponents, it can be a different story. Herron has only won two Sectional opening round games in their 15 year IHSAA history, and have never really been close to taking a title. Varsity Club member insists, “If incoming coach is content with putting together a decent regular season record composed of hand selected 1A and 2A schools, and bowing out in the tourney very early, this is an alright job.” Roster loses some, but Varsity Club member reports that if 5-3 sr-2-b guard Taylor Cotham returns, she is a real difference maker at this level.
