Fountain Central boys - Departing Coach Greg Dean
VEEDERSBURG, Ind. -- (Updated 5/5) Fountain Central is looking for a boys’ varsity basketball coach. Coach Greg Dean has decided to step down after four years leading the Mustangs. Coach Dean was 52-49 in four years and led the Mustangs to a regional championship in the 2022-23 season. The Mustangs were 5-18 this season, but they return their top 3 players. All-conference performer Eli Foxworthy averaged 15ppg, 3.6 reb, and 2.3 steals in his sophomore season. Fellow junior-to-be Ayden Batchelor was the Mustangs’ leading 3-point shooter, averaging 7.8ppg. Noah Dodson returns for his senior year after leading the team in FG% and rebounding. The Mustangs have some solid youth teams, and there is an opportunity to build long-term success. Fountain Central is a 1A school that competes in Sectional 53 (1A) in boys basketball. They are members of the Wabash River Conference. They have won basketball sectionals in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2023, advancing to the semi-state in 2023. Community and fan support is very strong at FC. Admin team is very supportive of athletics. There are definite openings in the science department at FC, but others could develop. There could be openings at the elementary as well. As teaching positions are likely to open up toward the end of the school year, all applicants will be considered as it is determined what teaching positions need to be filled.
