South Decatur boys - Departing Coach
LETTS, Ind. -- (Updated 5/4)
Can now confirm Kendall Wildey stepped down yesterday. Coach was 63-58 during his five seasons with the Cougars. Last season SD finished 13-11 and dropped their Sectional opener to South Ripley, 61-44. Varsity Clubber report has to lead with last year’s state scoring champion, Hunter Johnson and his 31ppg graduating. Three other senior contributors depart as well. Second leading scorer in 6-0 jr-2-b Jacob Scruggs (15ppg) was a solid second fiddle to Johnson last year. 6-3 sr-2-b Dale Peters also logged solid time last year. At 6-3, he’s about it on height. Report continues enough coming up to be competitive, but tourney success will require some true player development. JV finished 10-11 last go round. Frosh 7-9, 8th 4-16, no W/L record for 7th but report states terrible. Inside interest expected. Eled only at this point, but more openings expected.
