Frankfort boys - Departing Coach Jake Nerney
FRANKFORT, Ind. – (Updated 6/4) Coach Nerney has resigned after one season with the Hotdogs. It was a rough one, as Frankfort went just 2-22. The 3A Hotdogs are reportedly anything but a 3A school when it comes to basketball-type enrollment, and it shows. Their last Sectional title was 12 years ago, and while several of the ensuing seasons have seen competitive rosters take the floor, 500 has been a celebrated achievement. All that being said, Varsity Club report insists that next year could be a pretty decent bounce back. Or at least a vast improvement over 2-wins. Yes, the Hotdogs graduate five seniors, but in this particular case, not such a bad thing. Two 5-10 srs-2-b are set to return that each hit for about 10PPG last season logging extensive varsity minutes. A 6-2 jr-2-b also on paper to return who was good for another 8PPG. Trouble comes when addressing post defense as 6-2 is about it for the whole program right now. Actually defense in general has been an issue as Frankfort gave up about 70PPG last season. JV was just as awful as you think it is playing under a 2-win varsity squad. Zero help expected from there. Still improvement over last year’s W-L mark is possible. Varsity Clubber reports there were 3-4 games that were close enough to win last season, but last year’s group didn’t want to guard anybody. Ridiculously great gym. Openings aplenty: HS Math, HS English, MS Counselor, MS English, MS Math, Sped at all levels, Eled.
