Owen Valley boys – Departing Coach Roger Fleetwood
SPENCER, Ind. – (Updated 3/10) Coach Fleetwood has announced his retirement after 43 years as a head coach. Coach has won a staggering 568 games during his decades on the sideline. (An aside from the details of this opening, his thoughts on the changing culture of coaching and athletes over the years is an interesting read here: https://www.journalreview.com/stories/after-49-years-fleetwood-to-retire-from-coaching,146438 ) As far as the newly open Patriots’ job, OV went 11-9 last season and Varsity Club member indicates they graduate quite a bit. There is a lot of height left over as in 6-8 sr-2-b center Riley Brock and a couple of other 6-4 and 6-5, but the bulk of that is unproven at the varsity level. 6-2 sr-2-b guard Cayden Paquette is arguably the best of the expected returners. More coming soon.
