Beech Grove girls – Departing Coach Kristen Raker

BEECH GROVE, Ind. – (Updated 4/27) Coach Raker is not returning after six seasons. Last season the Hornets struggled to a 4-19 mark. Sectional has been a long term stumbling block for BG, not capturing one since their great State Championship team in 2003. Varsity Club member indicates 5 full time rotation player letter winners are expected back. Trouble is that barring substantial offseason development, none are capable of hitting for double digits on any consistent basis. Finding offense was tough last year, struggling to just 35ppg, and that challenge is likely to continue for new coach. Holding onto the ball against pressure is another. Last year’s Hornets turned the ball over in a big way, about 25 a clip. Some height reported in the program. JV only won 3 games and was routinely routed by conference foes. 8th grade was 4-10. 7th grade more competitive. Indiana Crossroads Conference: Triton Central, Cascade, LuHi, Ritter, Speedway, Monrovia, and Scecina. HS PE/Health, multiple Eled, Kindergarten, STEM, HS Broadcasting.
