Coach Ref Interactions after contests?

I had a great interaction with a referee this year. Now, I am just the assistant so I don't have any way of him really knowing me and I do my best to only talk to officials at breaks and calmly because the Head Coach is responsible for talking to the refs during play. We had a different understanding of rule interpretation. He calmly explained his call and I calmly explained where I was coming from. He said, that my understanding made sense and he would have to look it in up in the rulebook after the game and he would get back with me on it. This has not happened (it has been over 10 days) and I would genuinely like to hear what he thinks now. Do any coaches or referees have good interactions with coaches that they are not already friends with outside of game nights? Should this be a thing? Does it allow us to be closer and less combative or does it provide opportunities to just blame refs that already get enough heat?
