Great but exhausting night of basketball at Peru. In the first game, Western outlasted West Lafayette in 2OT. Score was tied at 41 at the end of regulation. No scoring in the 1st OT! Western jumped out to a lead in the 2nd OT and was able to hang on 49-46. Ballentine was huge, I think he got 29.
In the 2nd game, Benton Central came in with a sub .500 record and upset the host Peru Tigers and their 7 footer, Seth Adelsberger. This one also went to OT. I don't have the stats but I'll wager BC outrebounded the much taller Tigers. They spread the floor and consistently kept the ball away from Adelsberger, drawing him out of the lane on defense and cutting for back door buckets. The old Princeton strategy. Final score 50-46.
The Tig-Arena was rockin'. All four schools represented well, especially for a weeknight and the driving distances involved.
