My Mother and Father were both Walton graduates and were best friends of Cooney Turner(Twp Trustee) plus my Grandparents lived in Walton. But after being asked to teach at Onward my Mother said the children come first..They had no funds to pay her.A service station gave her free gas and oil.All thru the year we were given Ham,Sausage,Eggs,Beef,Chickens(Dressed),home canned foods and canned goods from a local grocery and during the summer we found green beans, sweet corn, potatoes and to Pop's delight radishes, turnips and onions.=The next April or May a Big bag of Yellow Sponge mushrooms appeared. Even years later when Pop was quite ill the Yellow Sponge still appeared. I would bet these items still appear to them in heaven.
