From the beginning of last season through Nov. 1, 176 people have been hired as new varsity basketball coaches in Indiana high schools – 84 to boys’ basketball positions and 92 to girls’ basketball positions – for the 2018-19 season.
This is the fourth greatest number of changes in the past 20 years. In the spring and summer of 2014, a record 197 changes were made; in 2007, 188 changes were made; and in 2017, 187 changes were made.
According to data compiled by the IBCA and HickoryHusker.com, here is the number of changes for the 20 years prior to the 2018 offseason: 2017 (187 changes); 2016 (157); 2015 (169); 2014 (197); 2013 (138); 2012 (167); 2011 (154); 2010 (162); 2009 (146); 2008 (148); 2007 (188); 2006 (152); 2005 (146); 2004 (147); 2003 (141); 2002 (135); 2001 (139); 2000 (125); 1999 (129); 1998 (133).
