During the 1991-92 season, Delta beat Muncie Central in a girl's game, 85-66. Two Delta players and one Central player topped the 30-point mark. Windy Thompson of MC was the leading scorer in the game with 34 points, 26 of them in the second half. Chanda Stebbins led Delta with 32, with Nikki Steveson adding 31. This is the first time I have heard of three girls scoring 30 points in a game. Both Stebbins and Steveson had gone over 1,000 points in their careers earlier in the season. Information from the IHSAA indicated that this was the first time two girls from the same team had passed the 1,000 point mark in the same season. Steveson got a full ride to Butler to play basketball, while Stebbins went to Florida to play volleyball. Stebbins was the daughter of 1968 Delta grad Monte Stebbins, who went on to play at Evansville. He was also a member of the last Royerton team. Chanda is also the granddaughter of John Stebbins, who also played and coached at Royerton, and who was the last Royerton Principal and the first Delta Principal. Delta was coached by Jim Cawood, who made his name as a boys' coach in Southern Indiana. He coached Delta for 11 seasons and won 5 sectionals at the school.
