Speaker Adjustment to this weekend's IBCA Clinic

Matthew Driscoll of the University of North Florida will serve as a featured speaker at the 2025 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association annual clinic, it was announced Monday (April 21).

Driscoll has been added to the lineup for the IBCA’s annual event that is set for April 24-25 at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville. He is taking the leadoff spot at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24 in place of Bradley University coach Brian Wardle, who is unable to appear because of a scheduling conflict.

The UNF coach for the past 16 seasons, Driscoll has a career record of 274-341 in 20 college seasons. That includes a 248-264 mark at North Florida, an NCAA Division I program in Jacksonville, and a 26-77 ledger in four seasons at LaRoche College, a NCAA Division III program in Pittsburgh.

Driscoll's team won Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season championships in 2015, 2016 and 2020, claimed the 2015 A-Sun Tournament title and were A-Sun Tournament runners-up in 2011 and 2017. His Ospreys also qualified for the 2015 NCAA Tournament, the 2016 NIT and the 2020 College Insider Tournament.

Recently, two players from the 2024-25 UNF squad announced they are transferring to local Big Ten programs for 2025-26 -- 6-6 wing Jasai Miles to Indiana University and 6-7 forward Liam Murphy to Purdue University.

The remainder of the 2025 IBCA Clinic two-day lineup remains as originally announced – Matt Bollant of Bryan College (Tenn.), John Groce of Akron, Matthew Graves of Indiana State, Maria Marchesano of Purdue Fort Wayne, Brady Sallee of Ball State and Travis Steele of Miami University (Ohio).

In addition to the in-person speakers, video sessions from the six IBCA district coaches of the year are expected to be made available in an online format. Boys’ coaches expected to offer online videos are Eli Henson of Manchester, Garrett Winegar of Fishers and Seve Beach of South Ripley. Girls' coaches expected to offer online videos are Lenny Krebs of Warsaw, Brian Satterfield of Hamilton Southeastern and Hollie Anson-Eaves of South Knox.

Doors open for the 2025 IBCA Clinic at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, and first-day sessions run through 8:45 p.m. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 25 and conclude about 2:45 p.m. Cost to attend the clinic is $50 for current-year IBCA members and $100 for non-members. Matthew Driscoll, North Florida

Matthew Driscoll recently completed his 16th season as the University of North Florida men’s basketball coach, his Ospreys posting a 15-17 overall record and an 8-10 finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

He has a career ledger of 274-341 as a college head coach, including a 26-77 slate in four seasons at LaRoche College, an NCAA Division III program in Pennsylvania. He has a 248-264 record at North Florida, a Jacksonville-based NCAA Division I program, including a 144-118 mark in A-Sun Conference games.

His UNF teams won A-Sun regular-season championships in 2015, 2016 and 2020, claimed the 2015 A-Sun Tournament title and were A-Sun Tournament runners-up in 2011 and 2017. They also qualified for the 2015 NCAA Tournament, the 2016 NIT and the 2020 College Insider Tournament.

Driscoll’s teams have posted three 20-win seasons (23-12 in 2014-15, 22-12 in 2015-16 and 21-12 in 2019-20) and twice of been among the national leaders in 3-point field goals made (2015-16 and 2019-20). He is a three-time A-Sun Coach of the Year (2015, 2016 and 2022) and was the 2015 NABC District 3 Coach of the Year. He also is the winningest coach in UNF program history and the winningest coaching in A-Sun Conference history.

During his tenure at UNF, Driscoll’s teams have produced 20 A-Sun all-conference selections, two A-Sun Players of the Year, one A-Sun Newcomer of the Year, two A-Sun Freshmen of the Year, three A-Sun Defensive Players of the Year and 11 players who have gone on to play professional basketball. They also have had 16 A-Sun all-academic honorees and three A-Sun Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Recently, two players from the 2024-25 UNF squad announced they are transferring to Indiana (6-6 wing Jasai Miles, 15.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 33.5 percent 3-pointers, third-team all-conference) and Purdue (6-7 forward Liam Murphy, 13.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 42.3 percent 3-pointers) for 2025-26.

Driscoll was hired at UNF on April 7, 2009, following six seasons as the top assistant at Baylor University. In Waco, he helped coach Scott Drew transform the Bears into a Big 12 Conference contender while earning berth in the 2008 NCAA Tournament and finishing as the 2009 NIT runner-up.

Driscoll began his coaching career in 1988-89 as head coach of Northgate High School in Pittsburgh, his alma mater. After two years at Northgate, he was an assistant coach for one season each at Butler County (Pa.) Community College, Seneca Valley (Pa.) High School and Slippery Rock (Pa.) University before becoming the head coach for four seasons at LaRoche College (1993-97).

He then was an assistant at the University of Wyoming in 1997-98, an assistant at Clemson University from 1998-2003 and an assistant briefly at Valparaiso University in 2003 before moving with Drew to Baylor from 2003-09.

Driscoll and his wife, Carrie, have two adult sons – Chase and Paxton.
