I don't have much room to talk because I mostly lurk and don't post much, but where is the chatter about the new season that will be upon us next week? Anyone want to talk about teams, games or gyms they are excited about checking out this season?
Who's got a bold prediction or an insightful comment about their hometown team? Who wants to complain (of course in a gentlemanly manner) about their rival or the local private/ parochial fielding a team of county all stars that somehow appeared in town right before 9th grade?
I'm looking forward to checking out all the area teams (Fort Wayne) even though I don't have a dog in the fight. Just a fan of it all and always looking to take a road trip to some remote place I've never been to before.
Our game has changed a lot in the past 20 years, and Lord knows we can't depend on Hoosier Basketball mag to steer us in the right direction anymore. It's a weird new world and no one quite knows how to sort it all out. But we can still depend on Hoosier Hysteria when the conference races heat up, during the tournament, and the random winter night when the stars align for a great game with great atmosphere, even if it's not between two teams that have a chance of getting anywhere near Bankers Life in March.
It may not be what it once was but it's still something I get excited about. Good luck to everyone in the upcoming season.
