Foul happened in between the FT line and the 3 pt line in the key. The official put the ball under the basket. I asked shouldn't the ball be on the side. He said no the foul was in the key. I said the rule is free throw line or below with an angle going from elbow to corner. If the foul did not happen in that area then it goes on side. At this point I was simply asking. He said no it was in the key. I simply said after the game or at half time would you reread the rule and I will too. I had not raised my tone as we were getting beat fairly bad. He then said, " I said it was in the top of the key the ball is underneath."

I have not had a chance to look it up yet, but has that rule changed.

The same official kicked out a player for an elbow to the throat. I have watched the foul on film, but the elbow was never thrown. The arm was extended and there was significant contact as the player was going through the screen. Aggressive foul yes, ejection not so sure. There had been numerous grabs on their screens etc. and nothing called so the player went through the screen. The officials let this game get too physical and one team unfortunately was more aggressive than the other (mine being the other). I even asked about a few obvious no calls and the official said if we call every foul we will be here all night. I hate that comment because if you don't when a team is as aggressive as they were then it slowly gets worse. Had a girl get undercut in the lane no foul she spent the night in ER. As I walked off I told the official as I passed him, I can't believe three of you missed that. That was my warning, no one else heard me but the official. The official was a real tool who ended up eventually giving me a technical for telling him not to be so short when I asked him a question about the ejection. At not time did I ever yell. If games are allowed to be physical to the degree of grabbing, shirt holding, etc. Things like this will happen.

Add to that the other coach felt the need to press up 40 in the fourth quarter. Many, not all, refs are there to pick up a check and are not accountable to anyone. As many coaches are just as unportsman as coaches who yell, just for another reason. It is happening all over the state.
