After watching the 15 point favorite Colorado State team get waxed last night by Idaho my son made the observation that in these bowl games you have to look at 'who wants to be there'. He pointed back to the 1990 Liberty Bowl where Air Force beat Ohio State 23-11. Air Force's defense was led by a player with 14 tackles whose dad was a trainer at Ohio State and he had been told that he was too small for D-1 football. Ohio State fans insisted before the game that 'we shouldn't be HERE' and deserved a much better bowl assignment. Air Force was happy to be in a bowl. Looked the same last night. After Idaho's last decade of poor records they were happy to be in a bowl. I wasn't happy with my 40 points of confidence assigned to them in the bowl pool.
