For those that watched IU at Syracuse last night, we got to witness something that very rarely happens. Syracuse up 3 in closing seconds, elects to foul rather than give up a 3FGA.
So often we talk about theory or strategy, but rarely if ever do we see it play out just as planned.
IU's (Reitz's) Landers comes off the bench, gets fouled, and heads to the line. Then just like you draw it up, he hits first, purposefully misses second, and IU's Trace Jackson-Davis pushes his man under the rim, gets offensive rebound, and is fouled on put back attempt. Makes both charity tosses with .9 on the clock to tie and force OT.
I can count the number of times I have seen this actually executed properly on one hand. A thing of beauty when strategy actually happens.
Not to bury the lead though.. IU and their 25 turnovers lose in double OT.
