12 Schools ended droughts of ten or more years. Clinton Prairie won the prize. for 43 years since no titles since 1982.
Manchester came next since 95, then Mooresville 98 and Harrison -Laf 99.
Other droughts ended were: Western Boone 2000, Maconaquah 2000, Portage 01, Whiteland 02, Jimtown 04,Daleville 09, Centerville 11, and Orleans 2015.
Now the regional, 26 teams back from last year. 13 will be defending, only 8 schools have not won a title.
They are (with first year they tried):
New Palestine 1917, Daleville 1921, Clinton Prairie 61, Hanover Central 67, North Decatur 68, Tri County 72, Northview 85, and Lakewood Park 2002.
Other schools experiencing long droughts are Whiteland 1944, Mooresville 77, South Ripley 81, Triton Central 89, Evans Memorial 89, Western Boone 98.
Ashley Fouch of Daleville so far appears to be the first woman coach to win a boys sectional as historians search the archives.
