I am a complete dork about Newspapers.com. I love getting on and reading old accounts of Indiana high school basketball, and I recently ran across a blurb about what a paper at the time indicated was the largest crowd ever to watch a junior high game.
After I made note of that one, I did a few searches, but could only come up with a couple of examples of a junior high game crowd being documented as potentially being a record, I've listed below. Obviously with these nice rounded numbers, these totals are most likely not on the money.
1200 Muncie Emerson 23, Muncie McKinley 22 - Played at North Walnut St Fieldhouse 1933-34
(Also of note was a reference in this one to Referee Rea overseeing the action. WOnder if it's any relation to our own Referee Rea here
1100 Wilson over Blaine - Played at Wilson High School 1930-31
900 Centerville 21, Greens Fork 18 - Played at Centerville 1933-34
