I started this late, so perhaps that’s why one of only three teams I’m supporting in this year’s Kentucky Sweet 16 spit the bit in the opening game this afternoon.

Buckhorn, which lost to Perry County Central 56-44 in the district final only to come back to beat PCC in the region final, 54-51 (OT), got smoked by a solid Murray club, 62-35. Murray was runner-up in Kentucky's All-A Classic, so take that for what it’s worth.

The other two teams I’m supporting hit the court at Rupp Arena tomorrow.

Mason County lost to Augusta 63-61 in district play, then tightened up the defense and defeated the same team in region, 48-41. Mason County (23-10) takes on Taylor County (24-8) at 6:30 tomorrow evening. The final team I’m riding is South Oldham, which was way-laid 74-60 by Oldham County in district. Since then South Oldham (28-5) has been on a roll and they’ll square off against 22-9 Owensboro Catholic at 8 p.m.
