Items such as a Coaches’ Roundtable, an Issues & Answers Forum and outstanding speakers highlight the agenda for the 2016 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Spring Clinic.
Butler’s Chris Holtmann, Ball State’s James Whitford, Indianapolis’ Stan Gouard and Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever are the headline speakers for the two-day gathering that is set for April 22-23 at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis.
In addition, Paul Patterson, the retired Hall of Fame coach from Taylor University, will make a presentation that qualifies as a class for IHSAA coaching certification. Details on how to have this count as a certification class will be provided at the session.
Sessions begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 22 and run through 9:10 p.m. that evening. Sessions resume at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23 and conclude at 12:30 p.m.
Cost to attend the clinic is $50 for current IBCA members and $100 for non-members.
For the 2016 clinic, attendees should check-in at the registration table as soon as they enter Lawrence North. Those who have preregistered will receive their nametag, other items for attendees and pick up any certificates players at your school have earned (All-State, Academic All-State and Player of the Week). Those who have not preregistered will have a separate line at which to register on site.
The Coaches’ Roundtable tips off the clinic agenda and will feature Hall of Fame inductees Jack Colescott (Marion), Myron Dickerson (Royerton, Connersville, Muncie North) and Bob Kirkhoff (Roncalli) on a panel moderated by Indiana SportsTalk host Bob Lovell. The three former coaches will discuss steps that they took to make their programs successful for the long run, and questions from those in attendance will be encouraged.
Eleven of the 12 IBCA Coaches of the Year also will speak during the program. The IBCA Coach of the Year for 2016 honorees previously were announced.
