OK, I'm 80. We used to start practice on October 1. Here is a list of things that I remember seeing change:
Ball had laces
Wooden backboards
Clock with hands, face turned red in last minute.
Buckle on knee pads
Players couldn't come to bench during time out. Teams had water bottles and towels on a little cart that was pushed onto the floor.
Choice of shooting free throw or taking ball out of bounds.
Sudden death overtime
No 5 second held ball.
Jump ball on held ball.
Tuff skin powder benches
Stickum
Running clock except for foul or held ball
Ball couldn't come to rest in hand (palm
Narrow free throw lane
1st spot designated with a "H" or "V"
In 1960 2 officials worked both JV and Varsity games for $15/each.
Probably more but these come to mind. Please add to the list.
