The current Hoosier Basketball Magazine rates defending AAAA champion New Albany as the #1 boys team in the state followed by North Central (Marion), Lawrence North, McCutcheon and South Bend Riley. For the girls, Homestead is ranked at the top followed by 2016 AAAA runner-up Columbus North, Carmel and North Central (Marion).
Six high school players are featured on the center of Hoosier Basketball's front cover, two boys and four girls. For only the third time in its history has a junior been spotlighted on the front cover— New Albany’s Romeo Langford joins Damon Bailey and Greg Oden— as featured juniors on the cover of Hoosier Basketball Magazine. The other boy is senior Kris Wilkes (North Central-Marion). The four girls highlighted in the center of the cover are Dana Evans (Gary West), Maliah Howard-Bass (Columbus North), Karissa McLaughlin (Homestead) and Madison Wise (Greenfield-Central).
Senior boys pictured on the cover are Jalen Adaway (Logansport), Zach Gunn (Hamilton Southeastern), Kyle Mangas (Warsaw), Cooper Neese (Cloverdale), Jack Nunge (Castle), Tyler Smith (Northeastern), Sasha Stefanovic (Crown Point) and Malik Williams (Fort Wayne Snider).
Senior girls appearing on the front cover are Riley Blackwell (Plainfield), Imani Guy (Columbus North), Nicole Konieczny (South Bend St. Joe), Bre Lloyd (Hamilton Southeastern), Rachel McLimore (Zionsville), Aly Reiff (Whitko), Zion Sanders (Evansville Central) and Anna Secrest (Tippecanoe Valley). College and professional players on the front cover are James Blackmon, Jr. (Indiana), Caleb Swanigan (Purdue), Brianna Turner (Notre Dame) and Clay Yeo (Bethel).
There a four high school players that are featured with action photos on the table of contents page. They are Jaylen Butz (Fort Wayne North), Kayla Casteel (Plainfield), Katie Helgason (Greenfield-Central) and Jaylen Minnett (Terre Haute South).

Hoosier Basketball Magazine would like to announce that the 29th annual North/South Indiana All-Star Classic will be played in Logansport at the Berry Bowl on April 9, 2017 and the 2017 Hoosiers' Reunion Classic will take place on Friday, June 2nd at the Historic Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. The annual boys' and girls' Top 60 Senior Workouts will be held in March (girls) and April (boys) in the Indianapolis area.
