Washington Twp girls - Departing Coach Mike DeHaven
Valparaiso, Ind. -- (Updated 7/12) Coach DeHaven will not be back after five seasons (38-68) with the Senators. Last year’s crop entered Sectionals at .500 before dropping their opener with rival Kouts. Good Varsity Clubber reports Senators lose just two seniors from that squad, but that’s only part of the story. Numbers have proven a true challenge for WT, and last year’s varsity typically dressed just six girls. Good news is leading scorer from last year’s squad is due back in 5-7 jr-2-b guard Addie Graf (15ppg.) Trouble is there’s only four girls remaining from a squad that didn’t field a JV nor Frosh team. Some hope on the horizon in last year’s 8th grade squad that won their Porter County Conference tourney championship. Obviously that’s a huge jump to varsity, but at least numbers-wise, the new Coach and the Senators should be fine. HS Physics, HS/MS Spanish, Eled - 1st, MS ELA, HS Science, and HS English.
