Batesville girls - Departing Coach Bryan Helvie
BATESVILLE, Ind. -- (Updated 2/25) Now official that Coach Helvie will not be returning for a fourth season. Last year the Bulldogs went 6-17 and struggled to a 1-6 Eastern Indiana Conference mark. Good Varsity Clubber reports that no less than six regularly contributing seniors graduate. If there is ever a plus side to losing that much, report goes on to state that last year’s leading scorer did so as a varsity freshman. Alyson Peters put together a solid season with 10ppg and 5rpg. Senior-2-b Emma Weiler also is expected back (7ppg.) 5-9 Soph-2-b guard Sophie Gesell also logged substantial varsity minutes as a frosh, although nothing fancy in terms of numbers. Report states that getting to last year’s 6-win total is possible with these three and cast of upcoming JV’ers, but it will be a battle. Decent JV reported (11-8) but no stat stuffers. 8th grade described as very limited. Decent 7th grade group. Apps deadline 3/20 Intvs week of 3/28. Current openings only include MS Industrial Tech, but more expected.
