University girls - (Updated 4/14) Justin Blanding (Closed 4/14)

Stacey Summit-Mann.

Already filled, but wanted to share some great insight into this job and program by a good Varsity Club member: "Coach was 28-77 in five years, including a Sectional championship in 2012 with a team that won just 4 regular season games. This will be Coach Blanding's first head coaching job. There were only 7 girls in the entire program this past year (including an exchange student) - at a school that has a no-cut policy. Large numbers out for volleyball, soccer and softball, but struggled last few years to get girls playing basketball. There has been no junior varsity program for two years. I really, really liked Stacey as a person and I never saw anything in game coaching wise that gave me heartburn. And I know the administration feels highly of her as well. I believe there are five returning players - but this is a start from just about scratch situation. Sectional has historically been among the weakest in the state, champions have lost regional opener 6 straight years by an average of 19 points. Obviously with no feeder program, It's kind of hard to say what is coming down the road. Also remember University starts play in the Pioneer Academic Athletic Conference next season. According to John Harrell's site the league had the fifth best non-conference record (75-40) last year.
