Union County boys – Departing Coach Mark Detweiler
(Updated 5/25) – Coach Detweiler departs to take the Delta job after 17 seasons (207-161) at Union County. It’s been reported that the Union County-College Corner School Board adopted a financial plan that included having only one superintendent for the district, which has had an assistant superintendent for at least four decades. Also reported that a high school English teacher position would move to the middle school and an elementary teaching position would be cut, as would one middle school office position. Bottom line is, this is a district in financial trouble and a declining enrollment.The Patriots finished 13-13 last year before bowing out in Sectionals 54-41 to state-ranked Northeastern. Good Varsity Clubber reports just two seniors depart, and only one of those was a true contributor. However, that departing grad was also leading scorer at about 16 a clip. No Indiana All-Stars on returning roster, but Varsity Club member reports two decent Sr’s-2-b both netting about 9 a game last season and also are two leading rebounders.
