Union City boys - Departing Coach Tom Byrum
UNION CITY, Ind. - (Updated 7/13) Coach Byrum will not return after three seasons with the Indians. Last season Union City wrapped-up at 6-17 with a 7 point Sectional opening exit to BRV. Good Varsity Club member reports UC is in a bit of a transition phase. Two contributing seniors graduate, but 6-4 leading scorer (12ppg) Camden Lafuze is due back for his senior year. Varsity Clubber also points to a strong group of sophs-2-be that will likely play a major role in the program going forward. A few players from this group logged considerable varsity time as frosh last season. Also some grumblings that parent group that comes with this group wants to be overly involved.. This core is capable of improvement over last year’s record, however a 1-20 JV from last go round will be of little help. REgarding post play, Varsity Clubber references Lafuze at 6-4 as only height currently in the program. After him it’s nothing but 5-11’s. Middle school teams described as below average.
