Scottsburg boys – Coach Brady Wells has announced he is retiring after 14 years at Scottsburg (178-125). Coach has won 255 games during a 20 year career. Tough times right now in Scottsburg to say the least. 1-22 last year. Warriors were seldom in games and had lost their 22 contests by an avg of 25 PPG. Good Varsity Club member reports JV was terrible also. Compound that with the fact that Scottsburg is known for having ridiculous expectations from the community. The same community that is mired in a horrible drug and crime epidemic. (See needle exchange program administered by the state for Scott County) Scottsburg was the largest non-football school in the state for many moons, but those days are gone as well. Now there are some positives: Good Varsity Club member indicates that Warriors should be better next year. They played lots of young people, and their best player, sr-2-b Mitchell Meagher, should be back after missing most of last year with injury. AD is Jamie Lowery and by Varsity Club reports is all-around good guy and truly loves Scottsburg. Beautiful old gym plus coaching salary is $8000 plus summer stipend. Detested rival, Austin, is also mired in some rough times talent-wise as well.
