South Vermillion girls - Departing Coach Matt Payne
CLINTON, Ind. -- (Updated 2/21) Good Varsity Club member reports Coach, Matt Payne, has resigned (Approved by school board last night 2/20). The team finished 0-24 this past season and will graduate their leading scorers from a TEAM that averaged 17ppg. Total rebuild in store as the JV did not win a game and nothing coming from the middle school. There is currently not a feeder program in place and a school board that reportedly likes to micro manage the coaches. Current job openings only include Alternative Ed, HS Biology, but likely more later this spring. Varsity CLubber points out though that South Vermillion is closing down one of its elementary schools (Ernie Pyle) at the end of the school year and moving their 5th grade into the middle school (Also approved at last night’s school board meeting 2/20). Tough rebuild and job for sure.
