Tippecanoe Valley boys - Departing Coach Chad Patrick
AKRON, Ind. -- (Updated 4/19) RTCTV’s Sport Editor extraordinaire Val Tsoutsouris broke the story last night that the Tippy Valley school board would not be renewing Coach Patrick’s contract. For the record, Coach was 14-10 and won a sectional title in 2019. Last season ended with a 38-33 Sectional semifinal loss to eventual Regional runner-up, NorthWood. As far as what new coach will have to deal with, Varsity Clubber reports four seniors graduate from last year’s roster. On the brightside, the Vikings’ top three scorers are expected to return. While none of these underclassmen are world beaters, (10-30ppg) all are capable of taking the next step. Two were named all-conference. Varsity Club member reports playing so many underclassmen may have caused some angst among some downtown coaches, but will likely benefit next coach. Some decent height returns as well in both front court and backcourt. More help expected from pretty solid 14-6 JV team. Looking down the pipe - 8th grade average. 7th grade won conference championship last season. Internal interest expected from JV Coach BJ Walls. However, Varsity Club member reports TV may look for big name outside. Report states several more openings expected, but as of now these are official: Several Eled, MS Math, HS English, and Music. Of note, Tippy admin is asking applicants to submit an essay describing your “Philosophy of Coaching Basketball” in 500 words or less as part of the hiring process.
