Tell City boys - Departing Coach Mike Brown

TELL CITY, Ind. -- (Updated 5/17) Coach Brown retires from coaching after 34 years and reaching the 500-win mark. Last year was a one-year stint to step in and help out the undermanned Marksmen. Tell City finished just 2-22, but good Varsity Club member reports it’s not all gloom and doom. Several frosh logged varsity time last year at the varsity level, and their on-the-job training, while difficult, will likely aid the incoming coach. Tell City is a member of the PAC which is and will be nails for the foreseeable future, but good Varsity Club member reports very supportive admin, and a good bunch of hard working kids to work with. Relying primarily on sophs-2-b to play a varsity schedule will most likely put the Marksmen behind the eight ball again for the next couple of years, but growth is possible and this could be a good job in a couple of years. Wonderful old gym to boot. Another Varsity Club member emails 2 jr-2-b role players will also be asked to step into larger roles. Not much winning at the junior high level, but system in place. One report state admin would like to utilize retiring Coach Brown’s PE position to pair with opening. Industrial Tech position open as well. No interior interest at this time - will hire from outside.
