Rochester girls – Departing Coach Brian Jennings
ROCHESTER, Ind. – (Updated 3/4) Coach Jennings will not return to the Zebras after four season (54-39.) Most recently Rochester finished 16-8 including a first round 2A Sectional exit at the hands of Pioneer. Good Varsity Club member reports two senior to graduate, both logged considerable minutes, but only one was a scorer (12ppg) (8rpg.) What is expected back is a group of six underclassmen that also received a substantial amount of varsity time. Of interest is a group of three sr’s-2-b that all hit for about 8ppg last season. If those three can take another step in scoring, Rochester could be a tough team to play. Some experienced size and ball handling also expected to be part of returning package. Report goes on to state new coach should have enough tools with this roster to have several options when game planning. JV reported as very solid. Apps deadline 4/1. No permanent teaching positions open yet, but several expected. More now from another Varsity Clubber: The lady Zebras will return 6 key players from the 21-22 season. Also, Emma Howdeshell (who started at pg as a freshman and sophomore) will return after missing the 21-22 season with a knee injury. 4 freshman off of this seasons 18-3 JV season will make for a very deep varsity squad next year. Current 8th grade team needs some improvement. 7th grade class is very talented and deep. Current assistant coach Ray Davis is interested.
