Southwood girls – Departing coach Dallas Duggan
(Updated 4/7) – Good Varsity Club member reports is no longer the girls coach at Southwood. Reportedly retired and moved to Atlanta where he got a job as an usher at Braves games. Coach Duggan lead Southwood for five seasons finishing with a winning docket every season but one. Most recently the Knights finished 12-11. Good Varsity Club member reports five seniors leave that contributed heavily to the Southwood cause last season. Some height returns in the form of a pair of 5-10 frontline players, but much of the proven rebounding and post defense departs. Varsity Clubber reports a decent jr-2-b class but they have never had to produce at the varsity level. Some logged varsity minutes as sophs last year, but rarely if ever in crunch time. Next year could be a rough one. Varsity Club member also reports that 7th and 8th grade offer nary a prayer – even reportedly getting blanked in a few games. JV Coach Brad Wright may be a possibility. Southwood without any teaching positions to offer at this time.
