South Central girls - Departing Coach Randal Schoen
Elizabeth, Ind. – (Updated 5/28) Good Varsity Club member reports veteran and gentleman Coach Randal Schoen has retired from South Central (Elizabeth) Girls. Coach went 284-209 in 20 years, winning 10 sectionals, 2 regionals and 1 state finals appearance. Coach also has quite the coaching tree with son Scott Schoen at Silver Creek, Providence's Brad Burden as former assistants and new Clarksville girl's head coach Shelby Miller played for Coach Schoen at South Central. South Central has great 1A facilities and is a good school to work at. Not much talent on deck right now, but a very good 6th grade class is in the pipeline. Varsity Clubber also reports of heavily involved parents and potential for some of those talented youngsters to attend other schools. Possible names: Ryan Crick (former South Central boys coach, teacher in cooperation), Lynne Thomas (former Corydon player, D2 All American. Has been coaching South Centrals feeders for years), Tony Hall (former Charlestown head coach is South Central AD. South Central has had coach/AD mix in the past), and Shelby Miller (new coach at Clarksville, played at South Central as mentioned above)
