Snider girls – Departing Coach Greg Friend
Ft. Wayne, Ind. – (Updated 3/2) Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel is reporting Snider Coach Greg Friend will not be returning for a third season. The same paper recalled an incident last December in which Coach Friend served a one-day suspension given by Fort Wayne Community Schools after a player alleged he battered her in a timeout during a game on Dec. 15. Yeah, so there’s that. Friend was 22-22 in his two years there, and finished 8-15 last go round. Decent start but just 1-9 after the alleged incident. Also probably deserved mention that the player involved, while not identified, was reported in the newspaper accounts as being 15. For better or worse, likely still a part of new coach’s incoming situation. Beyond all that, one contributing senior depart, and good Varsity Clubber reports she led team in virtually everything. Same report points to sr-2-b point guard Da’leshia Davis as probably the best returner, however, two frosh and a soph appeared in most varsity games last season, and will likely pay dividends with their experience at that level.
