Shortridge girls - Departing Coach Amie Cowell
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- (Updated 4/5) Now official that Coach Cowell will not be returning for a fourth season. Last year the very undermanned Blue Devils were winners of just 3 games and rarely competitive. Good Varsity Clubber reports lots of issues, but number one was inability to score points and hold onto the ball. He offers up last year’s 30 ppg vs. 26 turnovers per game as testimony. New coach will be without three departing grads, but 20+ ppg should return including best post player in jr-2-b Shantrice Grant (9 ppg, 6 rpg). PG Naomi Burch (8ppg) also expected back as are a host of underclassmen that logged varsity time the hard way. No JV, but some reports of decent middle schoolers moving up. Satans are members of Pioneer Conference which is sort of an odd mix of teams North: University, Liberty, Burris, APA & South: GCA, Bethesda, and Park Tudor. Teaching jobs expected.
