Shenandoah boys - Departing Coach Dave McCollough
MIDDLETOWN, Ind. - (Updated 6/29) Coach McCollough departs after seven very successful seasons with the Raiders to take over at Frankfort. A good Varsity Clubber familiar with the program reports that the gravy days may be over for the Raiders - at least for the short term. Put simply the talent just isn’t in the immediate pipeline right now as it has been. The report points to a returning roster that tops out at 6-1’s and without anyone with the proven capability to put up more than a bucket or two per contest. 6-1 jr-2-b guard Drake Stevens is a solid player, but reaching .500 would be a true success for this quad next season. Hard to put much stock in June basketball, but they have reportedly been blitzed in summer play. Will this community have the patience for some rebuilding seasons? Here’s hoping incoming coach is given that courtesy. Report states he will likely need it. JV won 8 games last year. All that being said, if Shenandoah can get by a tough campaign or two, report goes on to point to a stellar frosh-2-b group coming-up. Last season they went 23-1 as 8th graders. 7th grade described as competitive, and last year’s 6th grade very successful. Current teaching openings include MS Career/Tech, HS Spanish, and HS Math. While not official yet, Coach McCollough’s PE/Science position expected to be in play as well.
