River Forest boys - Departing Coach Rodney Thompson
HOBART, Ind. -- (Updated 4/4) Coach Thompson will not be back after one season (7-13) with the Ingots. Good Varsity Clubber reports River Forest graduates five, and new coach will likely take over a roster with some varsity time under their belts, but without much in the terms of a scorer. Having someone to count on to the double digits will be a challenge, and without much proven ball handling returning, dictating a tempo needed to be competitive will be a challenge. Report points to the fact that Ingots were routinely turned-over last season, and that is going to be a tough pattern to break. Typically when you see a varsity with single digit wins, you rarely see much of a JV waiting in the wings. Surprisingly the Ingot JV'ers were very competitive last season and posted a winning docket, even putting up some big numbers in the process. Greater South Shore Conference is a great fit for Ingots. 3A Sectional 18 is not unwinnable long term. Assistant Coach Mike Kosinski mentioned as possible candidate. No teaching jobs at his time.
