Princeton girls – Departing Coach Charles Mair
(Updated 3/27) – One-of-a-kind Coach Mair has announced his intentions of retiring after 36 years and 465 wins. He was 126-28 at Princeton, most recently going 15-11. Princeton plays in the historic Big 8 Conference (actually 7) consisting of a number of southern Indiana county seat schools (Vincennes, Washington, Jasper, Boonville, and Mt. Vernon) and Illinois’ Mount Carmel..at least for now. Last fall Princeton along with Boonville and Mt. Vernon made formal overtures to the Pocket Athletic Conference to see if their addition was a possibility. Good Varsity Club member reports Tigers will be slipping from their lofty perch talent-wise as only sr-2-b Kiare Young (16ppg, 6rpg, 3apg) returns. Decent JV reported, but Young will be only proven varsity player among a host of 2 ppg players. The slide will likely really kick-in after her departure as Varsity Clubber indicates not a lot in the pipeline. I continue to hear internal interest from current staff, but have yet to get a name.
