Pioneer girls - Departing Coach Jeff Brooke
ROYAL CENTER, Ind. -- (Updated 4/27) Indy Star is reporting that Coach Brooke has stepped down after seven seasons with the Panthers. The last four have been in the rare air of 20+ win seasons. 2023 ended at 21-4 and a disappointing 2-point Sectional loss to North Miami. According to good Varsity Club member, the Panthers graduate 3 of the 7 regulars from last season’s roster. Among them is 24ppg Ashlynn Brooke whose guard duties and scoring will be missed in a huge way. What remains is a pretty decent group, but not much offense. A couple of 8ppg players is about it. Pretty decent post play on both ends of the court should be part of the returning cast as well. If a solid point can emerge, Pioneer has a good chance of being a very solid squad again. No help expected from a JV that struggled to hit 20ppg in many contests. HS Sped is it for teaching jobs at this time, but more may avail themselves.
