Riverton Park boys - (Updated 3/10) Now official that Coach Charlie Martin will not be back next year after ten seasons (81-144) with the Panthers. RP went just 2-22 last go round including a brutal 0-8 in the Wabash River Conference. Riverton Parke was really up against it last year in terms of talent. Even with a schedule suited toward a school of their size, RP is simply in the midst of a talent drought. Last year's squad last those 22 games by an average of nearly 30 ppg. That roster graduates 6 seniors. Statistically the Panthers graduate all but 11 ppg and 9 rpg. The bulk of that coming from 6-0 jr-2-b guard Caleb Dickey. Two frosh also saw varsity minutes last year, but good Varsity Club member reports virtually nothing from sr-2-b class. So in this particular case, the fire is up next after the frying pan. Good Varsity Club member reports there is some hope on the horizon, however. You sure hate to hang your hat on middle school success, but at this point, Panther faithful will look to any available positive, and there are some concrete successes taking place within the middle school programs. Some indications that there may be some math openings within the system, but that won't be certain until later this spring.
