Mississinewa girls – Departing Coach Kaley Barn
(Updated 4/10) – Good Varsity Club member reports Coach Barnes has officially resigned. Reportedly a lot of issues at play. In addition to struggling this season there may have been a little bit of school board involvement as well. Reports that Coach had some parents that really did not like her and may have stirred the pot a little bit. Her leaving may have been inevitable but that certainly did not help. The job itself looks to be decent. JV team was 18-3, Varsity was 7-16 but returns 7 out of their 8 top scorersVarsity Clubber indicates the junior high teams were all very good and did not lose many games. The incoming freshmen will be very solid. The best returners are Erika Foy (5'11" guard, going to be a senior) and Halle Plank (6'0" forward, going to be a Junior). Foy is a really good basketball player, she averaged 14.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 3.2 APG, and 2.5 SPG. Plank came on strong at the end of the season, she averaged 7.4 PPG and 4.2 RPG. Overall, the team returns a little over 35 PPG. Parents are a little rough, they have very high (maybe unrealistic) expectations. Facilities are decent as Ole Miss has reportedly been working very hard the last few years to update everything. Brand new auxiliary built last school year was a great addition.
