Delphi girls - Departing Coach Rainey Jones
DELPHI, Ind. -- (Updated 3/24) Coach Jones will not return for a seventh season at Delphi. Coach Rainey had the Oracles playing at a very high level before last year's undermanned roster won just three games. Varsity Club member reports things will likely continue to be uphill for new coach at Delphi. Over half the offense graduates from a squad that was already challenged in that area. To make matters worse, much of that diploma loss comes from the paint - which had been a a bit bright spot on an otherwise dark season. Varsity Clubber reports now it appears new coach will need to scrap together a team that will need to control tempo to stay in games, and do so without truly competent ball handlers. Aside from backcourt issues, points will be at a premium as will front line play. AS expected from a 3-win varsity team, not much help expected from a weak JV. No teaching jobs reported at this time.
