Calumet boys – Departing Coach Dominique Nelson
GARY, Ind. – (Updated 4/28) Coach Nelson will not be back with the Warriors for a seventh season. Calumet has been very competitive during Coach Nelson’s time there, but good Varsity Clubber reports things may be a bit tougher next year almost scoring departs in May. Five contributing seniors leave from last year’s 11-win squad, and only sr-2-b Eric Martin returns with any proven scoring ability (10ppg, 6rpg.) Three other classmates also expected back that logged varsity time, but report indicates they were only good for a bucket or two an outing. One player worth noting is 6-7 sr-2-b Jalen Bullock. Warriors have advanced to four consecutive 3A Sectional #17 finals: Lighthouse, Hammond Central, and Griffith. Play in Greater South Shore Conference: Wheeler, Noll, Hanover Central, Lake Station, Griffith, and River Forest. No word on teaching openings at this point.
