Northfield girls – Departing Coach Melissa Allen
WABASH, Ind. – (Updated 7/29) Can now confirm Coach Allen has stepped down after six seasons (110-43 with the Norse.) Last season was another very successful campaign as NHS finished 21-6 complete with a regional title. Good Varsity Club member reports the Norsemen roster sees no less than six seniors leave along with Coach Allen. This includes their top four scorers (all double digit.) New coach will inherit about 10ppg total returning offense. Virtually all inside play and ball handling leave with the diploma as well. The only proven holdover is soph-2-b post Hannah Holmes (5ppg, 3rpg.) Report indicates getting the ball to her, or even up the court against pressure, will be a challenge the Norse have not had in many, many seasons. On the positive side waits a 16-win JV team. Report also indicates last year’s 8th grade finished above .500. 7th grade described as terrible. Assistant Sydney Chamberlain is mentioned as a potential name. No teaching positions at this time.
