North Posey girls – Departing Coach Waylon Schenk
POSEYVILLE, Ind. – (Updated 5/10) Coach Schenk will not be back with the Vikes after two seasons. It’s been five years since the North Posey has fielded a winner, and the last few have been down-right talent-challenged squads. Last year was especially tough as they finished just 2-13 complete with a gut wrenching 12-game losing streak. Good Varsity Club member reports a substantial senior group departs, but no big scorers. Trouble is no big contributors in place to take over. 5-8 sr-2-b Claire Koester is the only Viking to touch double figures last season (10ppg,) and she also contributed with 8rpg. Report also points to 5-5 soph-2-b guard Ashton Elpers as a likely piece in next season’s puzzle. She logged varsity time as a frosh, and considering what little offense the Vikings will put on the floor, she has shown she can shoot it, albeit it in a small sample size. Some unproven height in the form of a trio of underclass 5-10’s. Varsity Clubber indicates JV finished 3-3 in limited schedule. 2A NP finds itself in the oversized PAC among several 3A schools. Pocket Athletic Conference: Washington, Tell City, South Spencer, Tecumseh, Boonville, Gibson Southern, Forest Park, Mt. Vernon, Princeton, Pike Central, and Southridge. Girls PE job confirmed. There is a HS Math job listed on their website, but good Varsity Clubber reports that has been filled already. Several Eled openings as well as MS Computer Science.
